How YouTube subscriber counts are reported

YouTube may round public subscriber totals depending on channel size and settings. The overlay displays the public API value; it cannot reveal the more precise private total shown to a channel owner in YouTube Studio.

Setup

  1. Enter the channel handle including @ when one is available.
  2. Verify that the public channel and subscriber count are visible.
  3. Choose a size, copy the URL, and add it to OBS.

Best practices

  • Present the value as a public subscriber count when rounding matters.
  • Leave enough width for milestone changes.
  • Use a goal label outside the overlay if you need to explain the target.

Troubleshooting

  • Hidden subscriber counts cannot be recovered by the tool.
  • Older custom URLs may need to be replaced with the current @handle.
  • API quota interruptions are temporary and should not be solved by exposing a private API key.
