Setup guide

Setting up a Twitch follower milestone

Follower counts work best as progress context rather than a promise of immediate updates. Twitch’s API and caches can introduce a short delay, so the overlay is designed for milestones, goal screens, and persistent channel branding instead of individual follow alerts.

Setup

  1. Enter the exact Twitch channel login.
  2. Pick a font weight and color that remain legible at the final on-stream size.
  3. Add the copied URL as a Browser Source and crop or position the source in OBS.

Best practices

  • Pair the count with a nearby goal label created in OBS so viewers understand the number.
  • Leave enough width for the count to gain another digit without colliding with other graphics.
  • Use the preview to check thousands separators and alignment before going live.

Troubleshooting

  • Recent follows may take time to appear because the display is not an EventSub alert.
  • Private or unavailable API responses should be tested again with a known public channel.
  • If OBS shows an older style, use Refresh cache of current page in the source properties.
