Combining audiences without double-counting claims
The multi-viewer overlay adds the currently reported audiences from the selected platforms. It is a useful operational total, but it cannot identify people watching on more than one platform and should not be presented as a unique-person metric.
Setup
- Fill only the platforms that are live for the current broadcast.
- For YouTube, use the live video ID rather than a channel page when requested.
- Copy the resulting URL into a single OBS source and confirm each platform row updates.
Best practices
- Describe the number as combined concurrent viewers, not unique viewers.
- Remove unused platform parameters between events so stale values do not remain in the layout.
- Allow enough horizontal space for the largest plausible combined count.
Troubleshooting
- A dash for one platform usually means that provider failed while the others can continue.
- Check that the Kick or Twitch value is the channel login, without the full URL.
- YouTube live statistics may be unavailable when the stream owner hides viewer counts.
