Setup guide
Making a ticker readable instead of distracting
A ticker works for schedules, sponsor disclosures, rotating announcements, and event instructions. The goal is repeated comprehension: viewers should be able to join mid-scroll and understand the message without waiting through a long block of text.
Setup
- Write one concise message and choose a separator that clearly marks the repeat.
- Adjust duration after previewing the ticker at the final source width.
- Copy the URL into OBS and crop the source to the intended banner height.
Best practices
- Use sentence case and short clauses; all-capital paragraphs are harder to scan.
- Make sponsorship language unambiguous and keep it on screen long enough to read.
- Test the loop at 30 and 60 FPS if the motion appears uneven.
Troubleshooting
- Clipped text usually means the Browser Source height is smaller than the selected font.
- A ticker that appears stationary may have an extremely long cycle duration.
- Disable custom CSS in OBS while testing to rule out conflicting transforms.
