Choosing the right clock and weather context
Date, time, and temperature overlays are useful for IRL streams, conferences, remote events, and long broadcasts where the audience needs local context. Weather values are informational estimates and can lag the conditions at a specific venue.
Setup
- Search for the intended city or select a timezone explicitly.
- Choose 12- or 24-hour time, date fields, and Celsius or Fahrenheit.
- Add the generated URL to OBS and confirm it still reads clearly when the scene is scaled.
Best practices
- Label a remote timezone when viewers could assume it is the broadcaster’s local time.
- Avoid second-by-second display unless that precision serves the format.
- Do not use the weather result for safety-critical decisions.
Troubleshooting
- Cities with the same name may resolve to different regions; verify the coordinates in the preview.
- A weather-only failure should not prevent the clock from continuing.
- Browser-source privacy settings can block location, so prefer selecting a city manually.
