Using a goal list as a live progress graphic
A to-do overlay turns stream objectives into a shared visual checklist. It works well for challenge runs, creative sessions, study streams, and event schedules where viewers benefit from seeing what is complete and what comes next.
Setup
- Write one concrete goal per line and add a short heading.
- Mark completed items in the configuration and preview the crossed-out state.
- Copy the URL into OBS and reserve enough height for every item.
Best practices
- Keep the list to the goals viewers need now; archive completed phases between broadcasts.
- Start each item with an action verb so progress is easy to understand.
- Avoid placing private client names, addresses, or unreleased project details in a public overlay URL.
Troubleshooting
- If edits do not appear, update the Browser Source URL to the newly generated value.
- Unexpected wrapping means the source needs more width or a smaller font.
- Use saved overlays when you need to return to and edit the same list repeatedly.
