Displaying a Twitch subscriber count safely
Subscriber totals are private broadcaster data, so Twitch requires the broadcaster to sign in and grant the subscription-reading scope. AllStreamTools uses that authorization to retrieve the total for the connected channel; another user cannot look up it anonymously.
Setup
- Sign in with the Twitch broadcaster account whose subscriptions you want to display.
- Review the requested Twitch permission and reconnect if the page reports a missing scope.
- Copy the generated URL to OBS and keep it private because it identifies the connected overlay.
Best practices
- Treat the overlay URL like a stream key: do not post it in screenshots, chat, or public scene exports.
- Use a label such as subscribers or subs so viewers do not confuse the value with followers.
- Revoke AllStreamTools from Twitch Connections when you no longer use the integration.
Troubleshooting
- A reauthorization message means an older login was created before the required scope was added.
- If OBS is signed into another session, use the generated URL rather than opening the configuration page.
- A temporary API error can be retried without creating a new browser source.
