Setup guide
Showing Spotify playback without leaking credentials
The Spotify overlay displays the track that the connected account is actively playing, including artwork and progress when Spotify supplies it. The generated URL carries an encrypted session reference and should be handled as private configuration.
Setup
- Connect the Spotify account used during the stream.
- Start playback on an active Spotify device before judging the preview.
- Select artwork, progress, colors, and background options, then copy the private URL into OBS.
Best practices
- Avoid showing artwork over text-heavy scenes where titles become difficult to read.
- Use a compact layout for short intermissions and a larger card for music-focused streams.
- Respect music licensing rules; displaying track metadata does not grant broadcast rights.
Troubleshooting
- No active device or paused playback can intentionally hide the overlay.
- Reconnect Spotify if the configuration reports an expired or revoked session.
- Private sessions and local files may provide incomplete artwork or metadata.
