Using Kick live viewer data

The Kick viewer overlay reads the current live-session audience for a public channel. Offline channels normally report zero, and provider changes or caching can temporarily affect update timing.

Setup

  1. Enter the channel slug from the Kick URL.
  2. Style the preview for the scene where it will be used.
  3. Paste the generated overlay URL into OBS and test it while the channel is live.

Best practices

  • Describe the metric as current viewers rather than total reach.
  • Allow room for peak-event digit growth.
  • Keep a fallback scene if a platform API is temporarily unavailable.

Troubleshooting

  • Confirm the channel is live when testing a zero.
  • Remove spaces and the kick.com portion from the username.
  • Refresh the OBS source cache after editing parameters.
