Setup guide

Embedding webpages without creating a broken scene

The browser embed tool frames a webpage inside an overlay, but the destination site controls whether framing is allowed. Sites can block embedding through security headers, require login cookies, or change their layout without notice.

Setup

  1. Use an HTTPS page that you own or have permission to display.
  2. Test the destination in the preview and at the exact OBS source dimensions.
  3. Copy the generated URL and confirm interactive elements are not required during the broadcast.

Best practices

  • Prefer a purpose-built public display page over embedding an administration dashboard.
  • Never embed pages containing private analytics, messages, billing, or account controls.
  • Confirm you have rights to rebroadcast third-party text, images, video, and trademarks.

Troubleshooting

  • A blank frame commonly means the destination sends X-Frame-Options or a restrictive frame-ancestors policy.
  • Login redirects can loop because the OBS browser has a separate cookie store.
  • Responsive pages may need a different Browser Source width rather than browser zoom.
